    The Product Line Manager is responsible for overseeing product application technical support for all chemical formulas in their particular market area (ie: boilers, cooling, waste water, oil field, process technology, sanitation, etc). In addition, they will be responsible for managing development of new formulations and formula modifications, in cooperation with the R&D team. This position requires extensive knowledge and experience in of the technology, application realities and market drivers for the product line. The Product Line Manager will have responsibility for identifying new product line needs based on analysis of market conditions, defining program requirements, commercializing new offerings, and managing product line profitability. The Product Line Manager will provide technical support and training, often involving on-site visits to sales team meetings and customer plants. This position leads the day-to-day operations working with the sales organization to prioritize, develop and deliver product line specific marketing support to the field and customers.

    Responsibilities

    • Competently recognizes and rapidly adapts to market conditions, initiating projects to meet emerging and evolving customer needs while maintaining a focus on corporate sustainability.
    • Understands customer needs and determines chemical technologies best suited to address those needs.
    • Assist R&D with Formulation of new products for specific applications.
    • Assist purchasing department to source new suppliers.
    • Coordinates approved new projects from development through commercialization.
    • Develop and manage product optimization plan for life span of product.
    • Collaborate with marketing, R&D and technology managers to provide technical and product application support.
    • Support corporate strategy with new technology for long term market needs.
    • Understand local, national markets and international markets, in order to maintain competitive pricing strategies.
    • Develop marketing tools to enhance market sales efforts for product line.
    • Provide technical and product application support for field engineers and sales representatives, in the form of written technical bulletins, product data sheets, case studies and training material.
    • Provide on-site product application support for field personnel and customers in the form of training and start up assistance.
    • Clearly communicate project status and plan forward to management. 
    • Create and conduct technical training programs for new sales representatives

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Science in chemistry or engineering (or related technical degree) required
    • Master’s in Business Administration desirable
    • Minimum of 10 year’s relevant experience in Product Line application or support
    • CWT or similar technical certification is highly desirable. 
    • CWT certification will be required within two years of promotion to the position, and it must be kept current thereafter.
