    As a Transportation Planner you will be required to optimize freight costs by managing inbound and outbound shipments to ensure the highest possible utilization of our equipment and common carrier services.  A key measurement is accomplishing this while maintaining company defined metrics.  The efficient planning and building of loads requires communication with cross-functional teams.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop processes and tools that extend the shipment planning horizon to create better visibility of future loads.
    • Develop and maintain relevant operational KPI’s and goals that result in continuous improvement of service levels and costs.
    • Maintain and promote a safe and clean working environment.
    • Combine loads and reach out to customers and Sales Representatives to fully utilize shipping options to improve efficiency and reduce cost.
    • Analyze historical data and include new business intelligence to improve the efficiency of routes.
    • Respond to rush or emergency shipments by choosing the best overall solution to meet the need.
    • Through the use of exception reporting, communicate changes or delays in scheduled shipments.
    • All other duties as assigned by Director, Transportation.

    Qualifications

     

    • High level of organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Ability to analyze data and work with computers
    • Ability to function in a fast pace team environment
    • Effective written and oral communication skills
    • Proficient with Excel and/or Access
    • Knowledge of USWS systems preferred
